It’s Almost Here…

J. M. DeSantis Blog Post

The wait is almost over, folks. I’ve gotten word from the powers that be that I should be seeing something official from them within the week. That means the reveal of that BIG news is finally (almost) here. That said, everything is about a month behind where I was hoping it would be at this point, so rather than tease you more, I thought I’d reveal a little bit about what exactly has been going on in the past two months, behind the scenes.

Toward the end of last year, I invested a significant amount of time into writing a five-year business plan. I won’t go into every detail, but suffice to say, 2015 was suppose to hit the ground rolling with a new and bigger direction for me and in turn, Chadhiyana. Of course, a lot of that has been riding on that big news I keep alluding to (again, there have been delays, but the wheels have been turning for a while now).

That said, this “big” news is not the only thing I’m relying on for this year (it would be foolish to rely on one thing for a successful year), even though quite frankly, I feel it’s the biggest of all the things happening this year–not least because it directly effects Chadhiyana. Since I stopped posting pages to chadhiyana.com back in December (in preparation for the big news), I have been actively working, both on Chadhiyana and some other projects.

As far as Chadhiyana is concerned, last week I finished the final page of a Chadhiyana script I had been working on since August. The story was originally planned to be a two-part mini-series, but it quickly grew until it was the length of a short graphic novel (78 pages, according to the first draft). I absolutely love the story I’ve written, and I’m excited to see it published–some day. After all, I’m not abandoning Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows. That story (which is significantly longer) will have to be finished first.

Of the other Chadhiyana project, I cannot reveal anything yet. It’s only in the infancy of its development stage. Though, if it does happen, it will be something very different, and something I’ve been hoping to work on for a long time. As soon as things are further along with it, and providing everything works out, I will reveal the project and let everyone in on its development, as it happens.

Other than Chadhiyana, my main focus has been on illustrating a book of mine and writing another book. The first is a children’s book I’ve been working on, on-and-off again, for years. The break from Chadhiyana has allowed me the time to finish the illustrations. For any of you who remember my Figmund characters, I’m sorry to say it is not a Figmund children’s book. I do have some planned, but it’s going to be a while before I can get back to them. Be patient. It’s in my plan.

As for the other book, well that was the only unplanned part of my plan for this year. It just sort of happened. Currently the near-finished manuscript is about 15,000 words (the length of a novelette). A little more and it may reach novella length. Hints about this book are hidden in my blog, if you read closely enough. I’m hoping to start seeking a publisher for it soon.

All of the aforementioned projects are, as might be imagined, for later in the year or for future years. As such, I don’t want to get too much into specifics about them until closer to their actual release or announcement (lest these projects are delayed too). However, I felt I’ve kept you all waiting so long and thought I’d at least give you all some idea of what you’re all waiting for and what I mean by a new and bigger direction for this year.

That said (and to bring this lengthy post to a close), the big news specifically concerns Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows. As such, and with its approaching reveal, it was my plan to take down all of the pages, except the Prologue, in January. Since I’m a month behind, it is going to happen at the end of this month. That’s only three days away! So, for all of you who enjoy this in-progress graphic novel and want to re-read it, or for those who haven’t read everything up-to-date (that is, to page seventy two) now is your chance. (Visit chadhiyana.com to read the story so far.)

Most of all, don’t panic that the pages are coming down. It’s all part of the plan. Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows will continue, and the big news is almost here.
