Back to Full-Time

J. M. DeSantis Blog Post

Today (that is, today, as of this writing, yesterday as of this posting) is the first day I’m back in the studio full-time for the summer, and I have to say that no “summer vacation” (as it were) has been more welcome than this one. It was a trying school year to say the least (I teach full-time for most of the year), mostly because of the climate in the school district this year (of which I will say little). So for the next ten weeks, I’ll be getting a much needed recharge for the coming school year and have the opportunity to concentrate more on my writing and my art.

That said, this past school year has had an unfortunate and increasing effect on me since around the time of the Holidays. Many factors have contributed to this (of which I will remain silent), but as far as my writing and art is concerned that is largely why the posting schedule for Gentleman Cthulhu (gentlemancthulhu.com) was thrown into chaos these past few weeks and why Chadhiyana #5 has been behind schedule. So for the time being, I hope you will all be just a tad understanding as I do my best to catch up on things.

Though on the subject of Chadhiyana, even forgetting the lack of time I’ve had to concentrate on art making these past few months (mostly my writing time has been unaffected), Chadhiyana #5 has been a challenge to work on–and I mean that in the best way. I’m nearing the end of the art on the issue, but I can confidently say it is probably the most ambitious project I’ve taken on as a writer and artist. I don’t want to give too much away, but there is a lot packed in to the 20 pages of the next chapter in Chadhiyana’s story, and I’m looking forward to bringing it to you all soon, especially considering this and Chadhiyana #6 are the final two issues in the first half of the Company of Shadows story, which is equally the subject matter of the first Chadhiyana trade due out early in 2017. So we are drawing to a close on some things in this issue, even if we’re only coming up on the exact middle of the tale.

Again I do apologise for the chaos and delays. Please be patient with me as I catch up on some things. And while I don’t ever write about difficult (for lack of a better word) school-related things (because you never know who is reading), I thought some explanation was in order.

But I am looking forward to starting fresh in September, and for the summer, I plan to put all of my energies into both Chadhiyana and Gentleman Cthulhu.

Until next week…
