As We Wind Down to the End

J. M. DeSantis Blog: As We Wind Down to the End
2017 is almost at an end (I know, it sort of snuck up on me too!), and there are a few things I have to finish up before the start of the New Year. Not least of these are a number of commissions for this end-2017/beginning-2018 commission season. I’m booked through the end of this year (though I might be able to fit in just one more person between Christmas and New Years if you act fast enough), but January is still open—which is the last opportunity to get a commission from me at my current prices before the price raise in February. But that’s not all… Read more… ›

Commissions & the Forthcoming Books & Store

J. M. DeSantis Store, Commissions and Books
I wouldn’t say that Wednesday blog postings are the new trend (as Tuesday had always been the day ever since Gentleman Cthulhu took Wednesday; and while I’m on that, there’s a new comic up today: gentlemancthulhu.com), but with everything I’m juggling at the moment, I have to admit that the blog is a slightly lower priority at present. Still, I wanted to take a moment to mention (again) the number of things coming up to keep your eye out for (or get involved in).  Read more… ›

Commission Are Open & Other Exciting Bits

J. M. DeSantis Commissions are Open!If my first year participating in Inktober proved one thing (aside from my confidence drawing with pen), it’s that no matter the obstacles or setbacks, I’ll come through in the end. Despite a slow down around New York Comic Con and getting sick for nearly a week, I completed the entire thirty-one piece challenge by the end of the day on Halloween.

Now, fresh off of Inktober, I’ve jumped into NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), am opening up commissions until January 31, 2018, and catching up on Chadhiyana, Gentleman Cthulhu , plus putting together an Inktober sketchbook and a larger sketchbook (which has been in development since this past summer). But again, like Inktober, rest assured, I’ll catch up, come Hell or high water. Read more… ›

New York Comic Con and Inktober 2017

J. M. DeSantis NYCC 2017
October is going to be an exciting month. This weekend I’ll be making my eighth (?) consecutive appearance at the New York Comic Con (this Thursday through Sunday) in my usual spot these past three or four years: booth 1259 in Small Press. Plus, I’ll have a special guest with me at the show. But even before that, if you follow me on social media (and if not, follow me now), you’ll know that I’ve decided to participate in Inktober this year (that is, wherein artists post an inked drawing a day through the month of October).  Read more… ›

See You in Baltimore This Weekend

J. M. DeSantis - Baltimore Comic Con 2017
Another year and another Baltimore Comic-Con. It’s one of the shows I’ve done for the longest length of time (in, I believe, about eight years of exhibiting at conventions—since the Fall of 2009), and it’s one of my favourites. Baltimore is extremely artist friendly (just look at the size of its Artist Alley), and I’ve always found the show to be well run and the staff quite friendly (though, admittedly, I’ve never been to a show where the latter wasn’t true). Last Day for Gentleman Cthulhu

Last Day for Gentleman Cthulhu
It’s not as bad as the title makes it sound. Rather today is the final day to have your name included in the latest Gentleman Cthulhu annual Gentleman Cthulhu: Twice the Fears and Cheers (the name as it currently stand, though you also get a chance to vote on the name). Not only that, but for the first time in six years, I’m putting out a new sketchbook (a collection of artwork and including some writing), and so you can have your name included in that as well. How do you get your name into the books you ask? Well, just keep reading, as the details are below. Read more… ›

Thank You Inbeon Studios

Thank You Inbeon Studios
I just wanted to make a brief but heartfelt shout out to Eric Hutchison and the rest of the crew at Inbeon Studios not only for running another successful Inbeon Con this past weekend, but also for being a great and inspiring group to work alongside. I’ve known Eric for as long as I’ve been attending the Baltimore Comic-Con (six years, including this coming year’s show in September), and he’s always been supportive and encouraging of my work. Not only that, but his Inbeon Studios is my printer for all of my prints, and he does an amazing job with them. So, thank you Eric and everyone at Inbeon. Read more… ›

Double or Nothing

J. M. DeSantis Boston Comic Con 2017

The above title actually has a loose double meaning. I have two conventions coming up in the next two weeks, including this weekend’s Boston Comic Con. Though more specifically it refers the delays in publishing Gentleman Cthulhu: Year Two (working title) and that I’ve decide to up the ante and publish two new books in the next couple of months to make up for it and other delays (including Chadhiyana). More, August is the month to have your name featured as a supporter in both of these books (specific information at the end of this post). Read more… ›

Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One on IndyPlanet

Just one week after Chadhiyana #5’s publication (Rosarium Publishing through comiXology and Amazon), I’m officially announcing the IndyPlanet release of Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One–a collection of the first year of comics from gentlemancthulhu.com. This is the very same book that sold out before the end of the weekend at this past New York Comic Con. As such, the book will likely be on my table for a long time, but if you can’t make it to a convention I’m exhibiting at or just miss me at one, you now have the option to buy the collection online at indyplanet.us/product/143372/!

As with Chadhiyana #0 (which I self-published in 2012), Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One is available in both digital and print formats on IndyPlanet. Though originally my thought was to collect only the first year until a significant collection could be made (that is, enough comics to fill a square-bound trade), I’m planning now to release a collection every year. So, if you really love the web-comic, you’ll have these comics every year to look forward to and collect. Of course, for those who wish to continue to read them online, all of the comics will remain free on the website for your enjoyment. Read more… ›
