They’re Back: Chadhiyana & Gentleman Cthulhu

J. M. DeSantis's Chadhiyana & Gentleman Cthulhu are back!

It’s taken a while to get to this point, but finally there’s a new Chadhiyana comic, a short titled Chadhiyana: The Call of Fire and it’s free to read on chadhiyana.com! And although I didn’t plan it to line up this (near) perfectly, the new Gentleman Cthulhu artwork reveal comic is up on gentlemancthulhu.com today!

As I’ve written about before, I had taken a break from both projects, but intended to come back to them. Gentleman Cthulhu began his return with new comics posting since August of this year, and Chadhiyana will return in a new series next year through (my) Dark Fire Press (darkfirepress.com). And for you Chadhiyana fans, today’s post is mostly about the upcoming series.  (Read more…)

EVERYTHING: From Cons to Books to Interviews + New Artwork

J. M. DeSantis Baltimore Comic-Con Diversity Con Rhode Island Comic Con 2019

I’ve had so much going on in all directions (new books, upcoming projects, publishing as Dark Fire Press, interviews, conventions, etc) that it’s worth writing a single blog post that puts all the information out in one place. That’s exactly what this post is, and I may as well start with my new banner artwork as I return to exhibiting at conventions this week.  (Read more…)

Cons, Books, & Inktober

J. M. DeSantis 2019 Conventions

It’s a blessing and a curse that I’m not writing my blog weekly anymore. On one hand, I’m able to focus a lot more on published(able) content. On the other hand, not having to post every week means that sometimes I neglect to post anything until things build up. There’s no perfect system, I suppose, but I need to tweak the current one a bit. That said, there’s a lot to write about, so let’s get into it.  (Read more…)

Thanks B&N, Updates, a Podcasts & More Books

Robert Phillips by J. M. DeSantis

I know it seems impossible, but there are more publications coming from me this year. But before I get into that, a couple of site updates, and a special podcast that’s debuting in three days, I want to thank the staff at Barnes & Noble in Princeton, New Jersey for the wonderful opportunity they afforded me this past weekend during their Local Author event, in which I was talking about and signing copies of my latest book, Robert Phillips (a Lovecraftian novella centering around The Necronomicon and its author, Abdul Alhazred).  (Read more…)

Updates, Interview, Book Signing, & Gentleman Cthulhu

J. M. DeSantis Author Signing at Barnes & Noble

As I’ve written before this year, I may be writing less blog pieces and took a break from shows, but there’s a lot happening behind the scenes (as the publications of Robert Phillips and J. M. DeSantis: The First Ten Years should already prove). But we’re nearing the end of the summer, and with the Fall comes my planned return to public appearances and shows, and just in time for that I was asked to take part in a local author event at Barnes & Noble, as well as to do a second interview with Sequential Tart. And then there are some new web-developments on the horizon, including this site and Gentleman Cthulhu.  (Read more…)

Book Signing at Barnes & Noble

J. M. DeSantis Events

As I announced some time ago, I was going to be taking a long break from conventions and public appearances in order to focus on creating more work. So far, the creation end has been going well, with two books, a comic, and some new prints already done—and more of all on the way. My planned return to the public eye was going to be in the Fall, but I was surprised and humbled when I was invited to be a part of Barnes & Noble’s local author event (in Princeton, New Jersey) for a Q&A session and a signing for my latest book, and first novel, Robert Phillips.

On 24 August (Saturday) at 6:00 pm, I’ll be speaking about, taking questions, and signing Robert Phillips at Barnes & Noble in Princeton, New Jersey.  (Read more…)

I Doubt You Could Even Imagine It: Early Thoughts on Elden Ring

The announcement of any From Software game always brings with it rumours, speculation, and analysis. So it is now with the announcement of Elden Ring—a collaborative effort between Dark Souls creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, and A Song of Ice and Fire author, George R. R. Martin.

Although so little is yet available about the game—just the trailer (below) and two interviews—I can’t help but add my own speculations to the mix. As it is, I’ve been a fan of the Soulsborne games since Demon’s Souls, and to me it seems like Elden Ring is going to be a culmination of all of Miyazaki’s work since that title’s release. So I have quite a few ideas about what From Software is planning with this new IP.  (Read more…)
