Well that’s a rather long blog title, but what it says is true. This month I’m finally returning to conventions and public appearances (after nearly a year off), and I’m beginning with the Boston Comic Con this weekend! What’s even more exciting about the weekend is that not only am I speaking on a panel about self-publishing, but the second edition of Chadhiyana will be available for the convention (despite what I wrote in last week’s blog post)!

From Friday through Sunday this weekend, I’ll be in Artist Alley at the Boston Comic Con. As stated, amongst the usual assortment of prints, posters, books and bookmarks (not to mention being available for commissions) on my table will be the new, thirty-six page second edition of Chadhiyana, featuring the original sixteen pages of content and the Prologue of the Chadhiyana graphic novel, Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows. A lot has been done to this book to make it the definitive version (including colour corrections which now match almost exactly with my original art), and it looks beautiful. I have to be honest. For the first time in a while, I’m a little stuck. I have no idea what to write for today’s blog post. Sure, I could finish a number of the half-written blog pieces I keep on the back burner for moments like these, but at the moment, my head just isn’t there. Sometimes, it’s best to write about whatever’s on your mind at the moment–just to get the brain juices flowing. It’s probably a symptom of being distracted by a few deadlines I have to meet in the next two weeks and the upcoming Boston Comic Con (August 8 – 10, 2014). It’s difficult to know where to start, not for a lack of having something to write this week, but rather there’s been a lot happening worth writing about. So much happened within the last week that I wound up working through the weekend, forcing me to take the day off today (other than writing this blog piece, of course). At last the work is done (in a manner of speaking–I’ve a lot more to do this summer), and I can take a breather. Independence Day is just around the corner (well, State-side, that is), and so is my return to conventions. As I mentioned early in the year, I took the first half of the year off (from public appearances) to concentrate on my new teaching post, the classes I had to take to add a teaching certificate to my BFA and my graphic novel, Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows (posting weekly on chadhiyana.com). As I typically do following a convention, I wanted to take the time to thank everyone who stopped by my table this past weekend and showed their support. This was my first year exhibiting at the Boston Comic Con, and I’m glad I finally took the time to do it. Just a reminder that this weekend I’ll be exhibiting in Artist Alley at the Boston Comic Con for the first time ever (table # 829)! I’m very excited for this show for a number of reasons. First, I love the city of Boston; second, I’ve heard great things about this convention; and last but not least, I’m glad to see it’s still happening. After all, as many of you know, the Boston Comic Con was cancelled in April in the wake of the Boston Marathon tragedy. I was all too happy to see it was rescheduled, and I’m looking forward to bringing Chadhiyana and some of my other works to Boston (not to mention, just getting a chance to see the city again). Sorry for the late post this week, folks. I hope all of my American fans and followers enjoyed the 4th of July yesterday (I know I did!). Just a brief reminder that I will be appearing at the Boston Comic Con next month for its new dates and location: August 3rd and 4th (Saturday and Sunday) at the World Seaport Trade Center in Boston, MA. This will be my first time appearing at the con, and it’s my hope by then that more news will be available about the Chadhiyana graphic novel I’m currently working on. (Yes, I’m still writing the script, but I’ve also done a lot of character designs this week as well.) So, if you’re in the area or planning on going, make sure you stop by my Artist Alley table. And if not, order your tickets now! I hear Boston Comic Con is a great show, and I’m looking forward to it.

It’s been a while since I wrote a proper blog post. For a couple months it’s been one event after the other, and now things are finally calming down. Of course, there is the Pet-icular Poses group art show where my original art is on display through June 30th (visit studiokidsart.com for more information). I still have plenty of work to get done as well (not least of which is the Chadhiyana graphic novel). But for all intents and purposes there is little to promote for the time being. As mentioned last week, I wanted to post an update on my status with regards to the rescheduled Boston Comic Con and some information on two upcoming art shows featuring my original artwork. First, I have five original pieces of art and some prints on display in the Paterson Art Walk in Paterson, New Jersey, this Saturday and Sunday (25th and 26th). My work will be in a room at the Art Factory’s 60 Spruce Street location with other artists associated with the Art Garage (a separate organisation from the Art Factory).
