2017 is already off to a roaring start. Over the past two weeks two of my comics, Chadhiyana #5 and Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One, were released online (the former by Rosarium Publishing). Then there’s the US Presidential Inauguration and everything happening around it (such as the Women’s March on Saturday). Even with all of that, this is something of an in between week for me. One of those weeks where I’ve been so busy with work, and so many gears are turning and plans are in motion, but there’s nothing official to announce. So I thought I’d take the time this week to just write a few updates and maybe (maybe) hint at a few things to come. Read more… ›
Happy New Year!
Despite my comments last week, and how horribly the previous year went for all of us (generally speaking), I’m hoping 2017 brings a fresh start, or at the very least a fresh perspective and mindset. I know the whole changing year thing is more symbolic than literal (other than the date being written differently), but for many of us it is a marker. An ending and a beginning. And so I hope for a great year for us all. On a personal level, I hope and am planning for a lot, because 2017 and 2018 as well, are years of special significance for me. Read more… ›
I’m back! Well, that is to say, I never really left, but as stated in one of my previous blog pieces, I decided to take a little bit of an internet break following the Rosarium Publishing IndieGoGo campaign. It was taking a lot of my attention and energy, and I just needed a bit of time to recharge. Fortunately, the campaign was a success and there was a lot of support for Chadhiyana as well. I’m very much looking forward to the release of the first trade (in January). In the meanwhile, today’s blog is about a few things that might have been or were missed in the shadow of the campaign. The end of the Rosarium Publishing IndieGoGo campaign approaches (http://bit.ly/rosariumpub), and with it your chance to pre-order Chadhiyana volume 1 (issues 1 – 6) which comes with an exclusive mini-comic containing a new Chadhiyana story (see last week’s post for more information on that comic). Chadhiyana has consistently been one of the top-claimed perks since the beginning of the campaign. More, just hours after I had written this post yesterday, Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series, announced that he would match up to $10,000 in donations through the end of the campaign during the day on Wednesday, May 4th (rickriordan.blogspot.com/2016/05/support-great-publisher-who-values.html).
So, if you haven’t contributed yet, please do so soon. Simply click on the Chadhiyana perk, and it will bring you to a page to complete your pre-order. You’ll not only get the Chadhiyana trade and the comic, but you’ll be supporting diversity in publishing, which is the main mission of Rosarium, and help them reach the match-goal Mr. Riordan generously offered. Chadhiyana #4 has already been submitted to the publisher (Rosarium Publishing, that is) and it promises to be an intense, albeit short, issue. As much as I’d love to write more about it at this point, I’ll save that for the official release-date announcement. In the meanwhile, though it’s been available for a little over a month now, Chadhiyana #3 has still been getting some attention and is available on yet another one of Rosarium Publishing’s online distributor sites. If you follow me on social media or subscribe to my mailing list, you are already in the know: Chadhiyana #3 is now available through comiXology (from Rosarium Publishing). With the release date originally projected for today through Tuesday, this was a bit of a surprise. In fact, the book was released two days ago on the site. ComiXology has had a habit of releasing these issues a few days early, and as I’m quickly learning and someone privately quipped to me yesterday, release dates don’t seem to mean much. That’s quite all right with me; this is not a complaint by any means! After all, I’d rather a book come out early than late. Read more… ›
Strange things happen and people die as the witch has appeared to escape. Now, the Tal-Ifatiir order is terrified, and they are starting to blame Chadhiyana for all their supernatural misfortunes. ~ From Rosarium Publishing
Sorry. I know I already posted the above blurb from my publisher when I originally wrote my blog piece on the Chadhiyana #3 release date, but I just really love that quote. I know I’m a little biased, but if this book weren’t my own, that synopsis would certainly get me to buy this issue. That said, for those of you who do not have a NetGalley account, the wait is nearly over to read what the publisher teases above. Chadhiyana #3 will release within the week. Read more… ›
The end of the year is fast approaching, and typically the last three weeks are planned out for an end-of-year reflection post, a Happy Holidays post, and a Happy New Years post (in that order). So that leaves this week as the last week of the year for any topic I choose, and I haven’t put out any information on the state or release of Chadhiyana #3. I don’t have any official news yet, but I will give you all a bit of something, rather than remaining silent until the first full week in January. Read more… ›
I’ve only been off from writing my blog for a week, and yet it feels like forever. So please excuse me as I write off some of the rust. Though I’ve been writing every day, I’m suddenly stumped with the prospect of having to write a blog piece. So things may move in a sort of stream-of-consciousness sort of way. But, after all, that’s the benefits of writing a blog. It doesn’t have to be about anything really (though, the best blogs are about something). Read more… ›
I’m sure there are many of you who have been waiting for this. And what with a two week break from social media and posts about a mailing list at the end of the month, the anticipation has probably been mounting. That said, I do want to prepare some of you for a little disappointment, but I promise you issue 2 is coming and there’s a reason why it won’t be exactly when you (I assume) or I were expecting. Plus, I’m going to give you a preview of the amazing painted cover by yours truly. Read more… ›
