Do it Like 3 Rivers!

J. M. DeSantis Blog: Do it Like 3 Rivers!

So, 3 Rivers ComiCon was another mixed experience. The crowds were a little thin for what I’m used to (maybe it’s normal for that area), but the guest experience was incredible. Really, I miss the days when all conventions offered perks to the vendors, artists, and other guests, and the folks at 3 Rivers ComiCon did it right!  Read more… ›

Convention Season 2017

I’m taking a break from writing about Dark Souls (and other related games) this week, to give you all a little update on my convention schedule for this year. Currently, there are a few unconfirmed appearances (and one which I haven’t decided upon just yet), but the months are starting to fill in (admittedly, I’m not the most active con-exhibitor, usually averaging about one a month or month-and-a-half each year). True, I already exhibited at No Such Con in February so this may seem a bit late to be listing what’s coming in 2017, but I don’t usually attend cons in the winter. Now spring is officially here, and I already have an event coming up in May!  Read more… ›

Thank You White Plains!

Just a quick thank you to everyone who came out to support the White Plains Comic Con this past Saturday, especially those who bought commissions, prints and copies of Chadhiyana. As I said last year, I really hope this convention continues to grow, as the people in the White Plains area seem to be very supportive of the event and it’s extremely well run. Really, one of the best conventions I’ve been to.  Read more… ›

White Plains Comic Con This Saturday

J. M. DeSantis Event - White Plains Comic Con 2016

Greetings! I hope you all had a memorable Memorial Day. I’m just writing this little reminder that I’ll be appearing at the second annual White Plains Comic Con this Saturday, June 4th. Last year’s event was one of the single most supported and attended conventions (for its size) that I have ever exhibited at. I’m hoping that success can be repeated (beaten, even) this year. As always, I’ll have prints of my work on sale, copies of Chadhiyana, and I’ll be offering commissions throughout the show. Though I’m happy just to sit and talk about my work or debate the lore of the latest Dark Souls game.  Read more… ›

Ash Seeking Ember: First Impressions of Dark Souls III

DARKSOUL_facebook_mini

It’s hard to believe that two months have passed since I stated I wanted to take some time in this blog to focus on writing about the Souls series from developer From Software. Of course, for those keeping up with my work and this site, the publisher for my comic Chadhiyana, Rosarium Publishing, ran a successful IndieGoGo campaign. That, coupled with some time for recovery (promoting it was the most aggressive I’ve ever been about promoting anything), threw off my schedule a bit. But now that things are stabalising, and since I’ve completed my first play through Dark Souls III (with my own creative work, I can’t put as much time as I’d like into gaming), I thought I’d begin this week by writing about my reactions thereof. Back in the Swing of Things

J. M. DeSantis blog post

I’m back! Well, that is to say, I never really left, but as stated in one of my previous blog pieces, I decided to take a little bit of an internet break following the Rosarium Publishing IndieGoGo campaign. It was taking a lot of my attention and energy, and I just needed a bit of time to recharge. Fortunately, the campaign was a success and there was a lot of support for Chadhiyana as well. I’m very much looking forward to the release of the first trade (in January). In the meanwhile, today’s blog is about a few things that might have been or were missed in the shadow of the campaign. 2016 Convention Appearances Begin in One Month

J. M. DeSantis Event Annoucement

Last year, I had a very successful run of conventions. It was the first year in seven years of exhibiting that I success, and more, each convention I appeared at went better than the previous one. This year, I’m hoping to top last year, and it all begins with next month’s East Coast ComiCon (that is, if you don’t count January’s Black Comic Book Festival, where I appeared with Rosarium Publishing). Eternal Con 2015 This Weekend

This Saturday and Sunday I will be appearing in Artist Alley at Eternal Con for the first time ever! I’ve heard a lot of great things about this show, so hopefully the long (long) commute to Long Island will be worth it for me. It’s been a great convention season so far, and I’m only halfway through. I’m hoping for yet another successful show–especially with the replenished stock (since I was nearly cleaned out in White Plains) and the brand new items I’ll have on the table this weekend. A Convention I Will Definitely Do Again

This past weekend, I exhibited at the White Plains Comic Con for its first of hopefully many years. The convention was organised by Nancy Silberkleit of Archie Comics and had strong support from the City of White Plains. The upper floor of the White Plains Library (where the convention was held) was packed with people for a good portion of the day, and even the mayor of White Plains (Thomas Roach) came down to meet all of the artists and vendors. I have to honestly say, of all the conventions I have been to, this one seemed to have the largest outpouring of support for those who were exhibiting at the show. At least I hope that was everyone’s experience, because my experience was wonderful.  Read more… ›

White Plains Comic Con this Saturday

After a little indecisiveness (on my part), it has been officially confirmed that I will be exhibiting at the White Plains Comic Con this Saturday. This is the first year for the show, which is being held at the White Plains Library in White Plains, New York. Though I know nothing of the venue, I have high hopes it is going to be a success, especially after my last show (Bronx Heroes: Women in Comics Convention). Read more… ›
