Coloured Pages and Colour Calibration

I’ve been working overkill this week not only getting caught up on Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, but getting ahead. I wrote about it in detail yesterday on, so I won’t go into it at length here. What I will say is that I finished the art for (the previously uncoloured) pages 29 and 30. I also put in the time to complete not only this week’s page 31 but next week’s page as well. So, I’m a little tired, but I’m happy to have finally gotten ahead of schedule (such as I had always wished to do since I first decided to take the graphic novel to the web). My hope now is this gain will be built upon, rather than it be a fluke.

Other than that, I’ve just been playing around with my new Huey monitor calibrator (which I posted about last week). The colours still look too “light” and “under saturated” compared to what’s showing up in my test prints, but it’s a completely new type of hardware for me, so I’m still getting used to it. I want to get the adjustments just right for some new plans and projects I’ll be working on in the next few months (not to mention, I’d really like to get the colours just right on the pages for Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows).

Anyway, that’s about I’ve got for this week. I’ve got a few convention applications which have to go out, a few other freelance jobs I’m working on and a book which I’m waiting to be published (I painted the cover illustration for said book). But, of course, until any of these things are more set-in-stone (as it were) I can’t really say too much more. So, stay tuned, and keep reading Chadhiyana (or start reading it, if you haven’t been already). Cheers!
