Just a reminder that this weekend I’ll be exhibiting in Artist Alley at the Boston Comic Con for the first time ever (table # 829)! I’m very excited for this show for a number of reasons. First, I love the city of Boston; second, I’ve heard great things about this convention; and last but not least, I’m glad to see it’s still happening. After all, as many of you know, the Boston Comic Con was cancelled in April in the wake of the Boston Marathon tragedy. I was all too happy to see it was rescheduled, and I’m looking forward to bringing Chadhiyana and some of my other works to Boston (not to mention, just getting a chance to see the city again). Sorry for the late post this week, folks. I hope all of my American fans and followers enjoyed the 4th of July yesterday (I know I did!). Just a brief reminder that I will be appearing at the Boston Comic Con next month for its new dates and location: August 3rd and 4th (Saturday and Sunday) at the World Seaport Trade Center in Boston, MA. This will be my first time appearing at the con, and it’s my hope by then that more news will be available about the Chadhiyana graphic novel I’m currently working on. (Yes, I’m still writing the script, but I’ve also done a lot of character designs this week as well.) So, if you’re in the area or planning on going, make sure you stop by my Artist Alley table. And if not, order your tickets now! I hear Boston Comic Con is a great show, and I’m looking forward to it.

Just a quick reminder that this Friday (June 7th) is the reception for the Pet-icular Poses group art show, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Art Garage in Montclair, New Jersey. Be sure to come down and see the amazing art by all of the artists participating in the show and have a chance to meet them in person (myself included). The Art Garage is located at 211 Glenridge Ave, Montclair, NJ 07042. For more information, visit the Art Garage’s website: studiokidsart.com. Also, don’t forget, if you miss the reception, the show is on until June 30th. Don’t miss out on some very unique work from a variety of local artists!
First, thank you to everyone who came out to support the Paterson Art Walk this weekend past. It was my first time participating, and it was great to see so many people come out to appreciate some art. However, as I mentioned last week, the Paterson Art Walk is not the only chance to see my artwork live before the summer months. From June 7th through the 30th the Art Garage in Montclair, New Jersey will be holding their group gallery show, Pet-icular Poses. It will feature artwork depicting animals and mythological creatures by a variety of artists, including four pieces by yours truly (possibly five, if I can finish the last one in time). There will be a reception for the show on Friday, June 7th, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Art Garage is located at 211 Glenridge Ave, Montclair, NJ 07042. For more information, visit the Art Garage’s site at studiokidsart.com.
As mentioned last week, I wanted to post an update on my status with regards to the rescheduled Boston Comic Con and some information on two upcoming art shows featuring my original artwork. First, I have five original pieces of art and some prints on display in the Paterson Art Walk in Paterson, New Jersey, this Saturday and Sunday (25th and 26th). My work will be in a room at the Art Factory’s 60 Spruce Street location with other artists associated with the Art Garage (a separate organisation from the Art Factory). You can find out more about this event on artfactory.us.com/artwalk.html. Read more… ›
Returning for the second year in a row, J. M. DeSantis will be exhibiting at the Bronx Heroes Comic Con, held at the Bronx Library Center in New York City, this Saturday and Sunday. This is an exciting year for Bronx Heroes as this is the first time the convention will be extended over a two-day period (up from one day). So make sure you take the time to drop by and check out the amazing talent showcasing their work at the show. Oh, and don’t forget to visit J. M.’s table while you’re at it.

Due to the on-going investigation and manhunt surrounding the tragedy at the Boston Marathon on April 15, the Boston Comic Con has been cancelled for this weekend, and so that means, by association, my appearance there has been cancelled as well. According to the Con’s statement (see below) there seems to be a possibility of rescheduling. I, for one, would be very pleased if they did reschedule. I was looking forward to exhibiting at this show for the first time (having heard so many good things) and returning to the city of Boston for the second time in my life (which I loved the first time I visited).
That said, I hope that the people of Boston remain safe and unharmed whilst the authorities continue to hunt for the suspect who is reportedly still at large. It is also my hope the suspect is found and apprehended as quickly as possible, so as to avoid any more potential harm to the city, the surrounding area or the people therein. For those interested, I have posted the official statement from the Boston Comic Con’s website below. Read more… ›
Originally, it was my intention to write a quick third-person update about my upcoming first appearance at the Boston Comic Con this weekend, however, Monday’s tragedy at the Boston Marathon made me reconsider. I felt such a brief advertisement of the former without so much as a mention of the latter would be insensitive. Read more… ›
J. M. DeSantis will be at MoCCA Festival again this year. If you’re attending the event, drop by table # B54 and pick up a copy of Chadhiyana, if you haven’t already or just say hello. Also, MoCCA Fest attendees will have the privilege of learning some information about the new Chadhiyana project before it’s revealed here the week following the show. So if you’re not already planning to attend and if you don’t have any plans this weekend, stop by the 69th Regiment Armory in New York City and buy a ticket at the door. Otherwise, see you there!

That’s right, folks, you read it correctly. Starting next week with the 2013 MoCCA Festival (April 6th and 7th), J. M. DeSantis will be appearing at one convention, every other week for five weeks! It’s already an exciting time for J. M. DeSantis with the first Chadhiyana comic having been published back in October and a new Chadhiyana project in the works (more on that next month). And now J. M.’s 2013 appearances are starting off with three conventions only two weeks apart from each other. Read more… ›
