My apologies, again, for last week. I was feeling very ill and having trouble keeping up with work and school. I’m better now and back on track. Last week’s page for Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows is coloured and the new page went up yesterday. And, for you Chadhiyana fans, I have some other good news: if you like to read your comics digitally, Chadhiyana (the first comic) is now available for digital download on IndyPlanet.com (for only $0.99)! It’s difficult to decide what to write about first. Not because there’s any apprehension whatsoever concerning what I’m about to write. Rather, of the three events (if you will) which occurred since Monday, it’s difficult to decide which is the most important. To put one before the others would immediately place it above the rest in the reader’s mind–something I wish to avoid entirely. So, in an effort to not so much as allude to being more proud of one over the others, I’ll merely write about them in the order in which it came to my attention. Read more… ›
I know most everything has been Chadhiyana, Chadhiyana, Chadhiyana lately (and with good reason, as I’m loving working on a graphic novel for the character). So, perhaps we all need a break for this week. (Maybe not? But let’s take for granted we do.) I was recently given permission by a few clients to share with you the work I’ve been doing for them, including that oft written about, yet-unrevealed book cover illustration I completed a few months back. So this week’s blog post is about the other work I’ve been doing behind the scenes between working on Chadhiyana and to show you that Chadhiyana is not all I’m doing (though, let’s face it, it’s a lot of what I’m doing, and I’m hoping to work on her more and more for many years to come). The day has finally arrived. After a year of developing, plotting, writing, drawing, designing characters and exploring my options for publishing the next chapter in Chadhiyana’s story, the Chadhiyana graphic novel is at last available to read–in a manner of speaking, that is. For those who haven’t been following my blog (or haven’t spoken to me at a convention, either), this new graphic novel, Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, started publication yesterday on chadhiyana.com, where it will continue to publish regularly as I finish the book, grow Chadhiyana’s readership and find a publisher for this and other Chadhiyana stories. I was going to wait another week or two before I updated another art gallery. Instead, I intended to post information about some upcoming art shows I’m participating in and a small Boston Comic Con update (since it’s been rescheduled). However, I realised if I did that, I wouldn’t have an opportunity to update another of my art galleries until early-to-mid June! I couldn’t wait that long (and I’m sure you couldn’t either). So, not only have I updated two art galleries this week, but I also have some information about (and a link to) a new horror web-publication I’ve illustrated. Read more… ›
My latest publication is now available: “Steampunk Originals” from Arcana, featuring my two-page comic story, “Diwali,” a steampunk yarn about a revolt against the East India Trading Company in India. This is also the first time I’ve written and not illustrated a comic story of mine!
Chadhiyana is a female warrior who has a troubling past, centering around her abusive father. Often forced to face the past she wishes to distance herself from, Chadhiyana battles both villainous men and foul creatures of darkness as she journeys through a lush fantasy world based loosely on ancient India, Persia and the Middle East.
This issue includes two stand-alone short stories (which originally appeared in the limited edition GWP Presents: Volume 1) introducing J. M. DeSantis’s female fantasy heroine, Chadhiyana: “A Saviour in the Dark,” is a simple introductory tale, focusing on Chadhiyana’s personal past. “Chadhiyana and the Serpent” gives a glimpse into the fantasy world of Chadhiyana, where she is pitted against the ancient serpent, Sagreembal, who was once worshipped as a god in a distant land and may know more about Chadhiyana than she would like.
Order your copy of this introductory book to Chadhiyana today. And definitely expect more to come!
