Updates, Updates, Updates…

I’ve been putting off a new blog post until there was something more significant to announce—specifically the publication of my collection, J. M. DeSantis: The First Ten Years—but the book is being held up on the printer’s end, and I’m currently working on two other books to complete for the following months. So rather than another month go by without any word, I figured an update would at least be worth while.

First, thank you to the students at Vassar College for their hard work at the No Such Con this past weekend and for inviting me back. I had a great time catching up with some people I met last year–both exhibitors and attendees–and speaking on the panels about Cultural Competency and Self-Publishing respectively (and a special thanks to Danielle Draik and Emily Ree for inviting me to the latter). Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One & Merchandise

In the past month I’ve spend a decent amount of time (on my blog on jmdesantis.com) highlighting my online store (through Zazzle.com) though I haven’t taken the time to highlight the fact that more than one third of the roughly 100 items available on the store feature artwork from Gentleman Cthulhu–including three designs featuring the tentacled gentleman himself. A New Toy

I originally planned to post something about my comic art process today; however, things have been running behind on Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows (chadhiyana.com) the past two weeks despite my best intentions, and I didn’t have complete examples to show. I’m doing my best to catch up, and hopefully that will happen relatively soon. Though speaking of art and my process, I received in the mail yesterday a new device for my computer I’ve wanted to try for some time: a colour calibrator.  Read more… ›
