The Theme of 2019: A Continuation of “The End of 2018”

(if you have not yet, read the first part here)

What can I say about the year to come? Over the past few months the projects which have developed and come together for next year have unwittingly and almost completely developed into a theme for 2019. Because of the pattern and potential I saw, and the number of projects that have come together all at once, I laid out a plan—a fairly specific one—for next year. Included in that plan are Chadhiyana, Gentleman Cthulhu, Dark Fire Press and some very valuable and exciting changes to my Patreon.

Inktober 2019, 2020, and 2021 Themes

J. M. DeSantis Blog: Inktober 2019, 2020, and 2021 Themes
The votes are in for my Inktober 2019 theme! However, before I begin, I have to give a heartfelt thank you to all of the fans and staff at the Baltimore Comic-Con this weekend for helping make this yet another successful year. As I said last week, I’ll be cutting down on (and essentially taking off from) conventions for a year or so, unless I’m a guest, such as at the No Such Con in the winter. Yet the response to my work was so warm, I couldn’t help but make an exception for Baltimore.  Read more… ›

J. M. DeSantis: Genius $11 Million Write-ist

J. M. DeSantis Blog: Genius $11 million Write-ist

I’m famous! I’m a genius! And I’m rich!

You read that right! I’m a rich and famous genius. These aren’t my words. No, I’m just quoting from two different sources sources. How reliable they are, well, I’ll let you be the judge of that.  Read more… ›

No Such Con & The Final Days…

J. M. DeSantis Blog: No Such Con & The Final Days...
First, thank you to the students at Vassar College for their hard work at the No Such Con this past weekend and for inviting me back. I had a great time catching up with some people I met last year–both exhibitors and attendees–and speaking on the panels about Cultural Competency and Self-Publishing respectively (and a special thanks to Danielle Draik and Emily Ree for inviting me to the latter). There were a few surprises during the weekend too, but before I get into that, I want to point out to my readers that the final days are approaching to get your name included in the And They Call it Mummy Love collection as a supporter (deadline: 28 February 2018).  Read more… ›

No Such Con 2018

J. M. DeSantis - No Such Con 2018
Just a brief note that I’ve been invited back to the No Such Con at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York this year. Sorry for the late notice, but this is a small, student-run show, and the details took a bit to iron out, but if you are in the area, please stop by. I’ll be speaking on a few panels, and have my new Inktober 2017 Sketchbook on sale at the table (for the first time).  Read more… ›

Panel Podcasts from No Such Con

As promised, I’m sharing the podcasts of the artists and writers panels I was on during No Such Con this past weekend. I had a lot of fun at the show (which you can read about in Tuesday’s blog piece: jmdesantis.com/2017/02/no-such-con-2017-write-up/), and both panels were great to participate in. Thanks again to our moderator, author Thomm Quackenbush, for having me on them. Read more… ›

No Such Con 2017 Write Up

When I think of a typical comic convention, my experiences at No Such Con are not what come to mind. The show took place at a college, it was run by students and I was given a half table and paired with a musician and sometimes actor on said table. It sounds terrible, I know. But if that’s the way you think this blog piece is headed, you could not be more wrong. Read more… ›

No Such Con & Panels Schedule

J. M. DeSantis - No Such Con 2017

First, Happy Valentine’s Day to all. I know many people are cynical about the holiday (as it were, for some of you), but all the same, I wish you a happy one and if you do enjoy Valentine’s Day or Gentleman Cthulhu (or both) you can see this week’s comic by clicking over to gentlemancthulhu.com.

That said, this weekend is the recently added though seemingly significant No Such Con at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. I say significant because (as I’ve written about previously) I was invited not only as a guest to the show (my first guest-invite ever), but to speak on four panels (I’ve never done more than one in a single weekend). Patreon in March & Some New Swag

J. M. DeSantis: Patreon in March & Some New Swag

For a long time now I’ve been talking about, debating and even writing about starting up a Patreon page. To be perfectly honest, I’ve been working on one for a while now (and have mentioned it a few times on this blog), but I’m beginning to tire of simply working on it and not putting the plan into full action. At this point nearly everything is complete for the page, and so I’m making the official announcement now that my Patreon page will launch on March 1, 2017. Read more… ›

Support & a Con

J. M. DeSantis Upcoming Convention

It’s been both an exciting and difficult week. On one hand, I was invited to a convention as a guest for the first time ever. On the other hand, the state of things in the United States is equal parts inspiring and frightening (frightening because of Trump’s actions; inspiring because of the actions of those standing up to him). As a result of the latter, I created some new Chadhiyana artwork over the weekend, and so today’s post is going to cover both the con and said artwork. Read more… ›
