Happy NaNoWriMo 2018

Happy National Novel Writing Month, everyone!

If you’re a writer and participating, I hope the start of this month is going well. If not, well, I hope it’s a good month all the same. As I wrote a few weeks ago, I’ve decided to cut down on my blog posts for a while. I’m only posting once a month as I focus my efforts on more creative output. Again, I may occasionally post an extra blog piece or two on a topic I feel like writing about, but I feel I want to move away from writing about behind-the-scenes information as much, unless it’s necessary. And as it happens, there are a few updates I feel are necessary to dive into this month.  Read more… ›

Inktober 2019, 2020, and 2021 Themes

J. M. DeSantis Blog: Inktober 2019, 2020, and 2021 Themes
The votes are in for my Inktober 2019 theme! However, before I begin, I have to give a heartfelt thank you to all of the fans and staff at the Baltimore Comic-Con this weekend for helping make this yet another successful year. As I said last week, I’ll be cutting down on (and essentially taking off from) conventions for a year or so, unless I’m a guest, such as at the No Such Con in the winter. Yet the response to my work was so warm, I couldn’t help but make an exception for Baltimore.  Read more… ›

Baltimore and Beyond

J. M. DeSantis Blog: Baltimore and Beyond

I’ve been absent a while (at least on this blog), but not gone entirely. There are a few things I’ve had to attend to personally and a number of things developing behind the scenes (which my Patreon supporters had a full update about yesterday). But there’s no time to lose on explanations. Baltimore Comic-Con is nigh (I’ll be there all three days), Inktober lurks around the corner, and NaNoWriMo looms in the distance.  Read more… ›

Shop J. M. DeSantis this Season

Although I feel a tad awkward writing about shopping after last week’s post, my original intention had been to start promoting my online store again toward the end of October. Unfortunately, the election overshadowed that initiative (even in within myself). However, with the Holiday Shopping Season about to begin (with Black Friday being this Friday and Cyber Monday this Monday), there’s no time like the present to let you all know what I’m offering through my growing online store. And honestly, though I have no intention of abandoning last week’s stance, it is healthy to take a break from all the negativity out there right now, and what better way than to buy something for yourself or a loved one and help support a talented individual, such as myself, in the process? See You at NYCC Booth 1259

J. M. DeSantis NYCC Booth 1259

New York Comic Con is already upon us and as I’ve said, it seemed to creep up so fast this year. I have a number of new prints ready for this weekend, including new, Cthulhu, Nosferatu and Alice in Wonderland pieces, and my first attempt at a superhero print (a Deadpool and James Bond mash-up, as it were). More, the first collection of Gentleman Cthulhu comics is in-hand. I’ll be on the show floor again this year, at the same booth number: 1259 (not in Artist Alley)! And since last year was such a success, I’m hoping to at least match it this year. Read more… ›

Some Things in the Works

J. M. DeSantis Some Things in the Works

The New York Comic Con is just two weeks away (I know, it seems early to me this year too). Amidst a busy schedule, I’ve been trying to get a number of things ready for the biggest show I do all year (and usually the one I end the year on–though next year I’m debating changing that a bit by adding some new shows). Already I had a few things planned, but my experiences in Boston and Baltimore this year got me thinking about a few additional things I want to add to that already extensive list of projects. See You Next Year, Boston!

J. M. DeSantis Boston Comic Con 2016-2017 Newark Comic Con

Yes, as the title implies, I’ve already signed up for an Artist Alley table at next years’ Boston Comic Con. It’s honestly one of my favourite shows to do in my favourite city (I still think I’d like to move up this way someday). This year’s show was another success. I’ve sold out of a few things, and I don’t know that I’ll be able to restock on these items for this Saturday’s Newark Comic Con. (Sorry, though I still have plenty of prints and books available.). Though Aside from sales alone, there’s a lot more appeal to exhibiting at the Boston Comic Con. Read more… ›

Back in the Swing of Things

J. M. DeSantis blog post

I’m back! Well, that is to say, I never really left, but as stated in one of my previous blog pieces, I decided to take a little bit of an internet break following the Rosarium Publishing IndieGoGo campaign. It was taking a lot of my attention and energy, and I just needed a bit of time to recharge. Fortunately, the campaign was a success and there was a lot of support for Chadhiyana as well. I’m very much looking forward to the release of the first trade (in January). In the meanwhile, today’s blog is about a few things that might have been or were missed in the shadow of the campaign.
