It’s been a long time since I wrote a proper blog post, having concentrated most of my updates on social media (follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook), and to a lesser extent on Patreon and my mailing list. But in truth I’ve been hard at work getting Chadhiyana ready for her return to publication, working at growing Dark Fire Press and its list of titles, by me and other authors, and putting some work into designs on my fairly new Redbubble Store. I’ve had so much going on in all directions (new books, upcoming projects, publishing as Dark Fire Press, interviews, conventions, etc) that it’s worth writing a single blog post that puts all the information out in one place. That’s exactly what this post is, and I may as well start with my new banner artwork as I return to exhibiting at conventions this week. Read more… ›
It’s Cyber Monday! The day in which people spend their time (and money) shopping online for Holiday gifts. I intend to do a little of the same, though I would encourage you all (who are reading this) to browse the items in my new storefront on jmdesantis.com: jmdesantis.com/shop/. Just launched last week, it has a number of exclusive items available (including my original Inktober 2017 pieces, many of which have already sold) as well as sales on back-stock of select prints. But, if you’re new to this blog or even if you’re not and you need a little reminder, that’s not all I’m offering online this Holiday season. Read more… ›
It’s Cyber Monday, and even though I had written about my online store last week, there really isn’t a better day of the year to promote an online store than today! Especially since Zazzle is offering even bigger discounts today with the code CYBERMONSAVE at checkout. So if you’re interested, checkout my store at zazzle.com/jmdesantis. But if you’re still not convinced, or if you’re a Chadhiyana fan, read on. I have a surprise for you.
Although I feel a tad awkward writing about shopping after last week’s post, my original intention had been to start promoting my online store again toward the end of October. Unfortunately, the election overshadowed that initiative (even in within myself). However, with the Holiday Shopping Season about to begin (with Black Friday being this Friday and Cyber Monday this Monday), there’s no time like the present to let you all know what I’m offering through my growing online store. And honestly, though I have no intention of abandoning last week’s stance, it is healthy to take a break from all the negativity out there right now, and what better way than to buy something for yourself or a loved one and help support a talented individual, such as myself, in the process? Sorry for the change in schedule this week, folks. I had to rearrange a few things to accommodate two Gentleman Cthulhu comics this week (gentlemancthulhu.com). But it also gave me an opportunity to upload a few new designs and products to both my Zazzle and Society6 stores. Again, because of time-constraints, and the newness of this business venture, I’m only using artwork and designs which I have previously created, but this week I’m offering a few new products and two designs which have never been available before, even as prints on my convention tables. Last week I teased that there were two new things coming from me starting this month, and as promised so I have delivered. After years of debating with myself about whether or not to take the plunge, I have finally opened an online store for print-on-demand merchandise. In fact, I opened two: one on Society6 and one on Zazzle. Read more… ›
Last week, I began penciling the Chadhiyana graphic novel (Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows), but there’s a lot more to do besides comic pages before I can launch the web-comic. I’ve been busy with just about all of it this week (and one small, side project). So, here’s a brief update about where I am this week, as promised.
At this point, only two pages of the Prologue have been penciled. Don’t panic. It’s not that I work that slow or was slacking off. Unfortunately, I had to switch gears for a few days and concentrate on some other things. First, I wanted to create a new Chadhiyana logo for the graphic novel, something crisper than the original, hand-drawn logo which decorates the first Chadhiyana comic (visit IndyPlanet.com to purchase a copy).
