I just wanted to take a moment to wish any and all Happy Holidays this year. Whether you celebrate Christmas (as I do), Hanukkah (already in progress), Kwanzaa (forthcoming), another holiday I’m yet unaware of or none at all, I hope this time of the year finds you well, and that the days and weeks approaching the New Year are a happy one for you and yours.
With All Best Wishes,
J. M. DeSantis
2017 is almost at an end (I know, it sort of snuck up on me too!), and there are a few things I have to finish up before the start of the New Year. Not least of these are a number of commissions for this end-2017/beginning-2018 commission season. I’m booked through the end of this year (though I might be able to fit in just one more person between Christmas and New Years if you act fast enough), but January is still open—which is the last opportunity to get a commission from me at my current prices before the price raise in February. But that’s not all… Read more… ›
It’s Cyber Monday! The day in which people spend their time (and money) shopping online for Holiday gifts. I intend to do a little of the same, though I would encourage you all (who are reading this) to browse the items in my new storefront on jmdesantis.com: jmdesantis.com/shop/. Just launched last week, it has a number of exclusive items available (including my original Inktober 2017 pieces, many of which have already sold) as well as sales on back-stock of select prints. But, if you’re new to this blog or even if you’re not and you need a little reminder, that’s not all I’m offering online this Holiday season. Read more… ›
If my first year participating in Inktober proved one thing (aside from my confidence drawing with pen), it’s that no matter the obstacles or setbacks, I’ll come through in the end. Despite a slow down around New York Comic Con and getting sick for nearly a week, I completed the entire thirty-one piece challenge by the end of the day on Halloween.
Now, fresh off of Inktober, I’ve jumped into NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), am opening up commissions until January 31, 2018, and catching up on Chadhiyana, Gentleman Cthulhu , plus putting together an Inktober sketchbook and a larger sketchbook (which has been in development since this past summer). But again, like Inktober, rest assured, I’ll catch up, come Hell or high water. Read more… ›
Even though it seems like our latest president is constantly challenging the ideals and realities of the United States’ freedom and independence, I’d still like to take the time to wish all of my State-side fans a Happy Independence Day!
Let’s hope we all remain so (independent and free, that is). So in honour of that and of all of the men and women who have risked and given their lives to protect those freedoms (and thank you, immensely, by the way), I’ll be drinking a nice cold beer or two (or more) and eating a few cheeseburgers and other choice foods from the grill.
Cheers!
Happy New Year!
Despite my comments last week, and how horribly the previous year went for all of us (generally speaking), I’m hoping 2017 brings a fresh start, or at the very least a fresh perspective and mindset. I know the whole changing year thing is more symbolic than literal (other than the date being written differently), but for many of us it is a marker. An ending and a beginning. And so I hope for a great year for us all. On a personal level, I hope and am planning for a lot, because 2017 and 2018 as well, are years of special significance for me. Read more… ›
Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are all nearly upon us. Then this Holiday shopping madness will come to a screeching halt, and perhaps we can all sit back and enjoy good food and the company of friends and family (or at least try our best to tolerate a few family members we would otherwise steer clear of). Although I feel a tad awkward writing about shopping after last week’s post, my original intention had been to start promoting my online store again toward the end of October. Unfortunately, the election overshadowed that initiative (even in within myself). However, with the Holiday Shopping Season about to begin (with Black Friday being this Friday and Cyber Monday this Monday), there’s no time like the present to let you all know what I’m offering through my growing online store. And honestly, though I have no intention of abandoning last week’s stance, it is healthy to take a break from all the negativity out there right now, and what better way than to buy something for yourself or a loved one and help support a talented individual, such as myself, in the process? Though it’s a few days early, I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year! Let’s hope 2016 is a wonderful and successful year for us all. If you wish, you can go back a couple of posts and read my reflections on 2015. Otherwise, I’ll see you all in the new year with the next issue of Chadhiyana, more Gentleman Cthulhu and much, much more!
All the Best,
J. M. DeSantis
