It was admittedly a mixed experience at the White Plains Comic Fest this past weekend, likely stemming from trying out a new venue for the growing show. But I consider any issues a fluke, as this has always been and still is a great show for me, and I was excited to return this year (after a scheduling conflict last year) and see some old friends and faces. My thanks, as always, to Ray Felix (of Bronx Heroes) and Nancy Silberkleit (of Archie Comics) who are always supportive and follow up with me every year. I’ll be back again in 2019, rest assured.
That said, the short trip and one-day show was just a warm up for the very long drive and two-day show coming up this weekend: the 3 Rivers Comic Con in Pittsburgh, PA. Read more… ›
Just a quick thank you to everyone who came out to support the White Plains Comic Con this past Saturday, especially those who bought commissions, prints and copies of Chadhiyana. As I said last year, I really hope this convention continues to grow, as the people in the White Plains area seem to be very supportive of the event and it’s extremely well run. Really, one of the best conventions I’ve been to. Read more… ›
Greetings! I hope you all had a memorable Memorial Day. I’m just writing this little reminder that I’ll be appearing at the second annual White Plains Comic Con this Saturday, June 4th. Last year’s event was one of the single most supported and attended conventions (for its size) that I have ever exhibited at. I’m hoping that success can be repeated (beaten, even) this year. As always, I’ll have prints of my work on sale, copies of Chadhiyana, and I’ll be offering commissions throughout the show. Though I’m happy just to sit and talk about my work or debate the lore of the latest Dark Souls game. Read more… ›
I’m back! Well, that is to say, I never really left, but as stated in one of my previous blog pieces, I decided to take a little bit of an internet break following the Rosarium Publishing IndieGoGo campaign. It was taking a lot of my attention and energy, and I just needed a bit of time to recharge. Fortunately, the campaign was a success and there was a lot of support for Chadhiyana as well. I’m very much looking forward to the release of the first trade (in January). In the meanwhile, today’s blog is about a few things that might have been or were missed in the shadow of the campaign. This past weekend, I exhibited at the White Plains Comic Con for its first of hopefully many years. The convention was organised by Nancy Silberkleit of Archie Comics and had strong support from the City of White Plains. The upper floor of the White Plains Library (where the convention was held) was packed with people for a good portion of the day, and even the mayor of White Plains (Thomas Roach) came down to meet all of the artists and vendors. I have to honestly say, of all the conventions I have been to, this one seemed to have the largest outpouring of support for those who were exhibiting at the show. At least I hope that was everyone’s experience, because my experience was wonderful. Read more… ›
After a little indecisiveness (on my part), it has been officially confirmed that I will be exhibiting at the White Plains Comic Con this Saturday. This is the first year for the show, which is being held at the White Plains Library in White Plains, New York. Though I know nothing of the venue, I have high hopes it is going to be a success, especially after my last show (Bronx Heroes: Women in Comics Convention). Read more… ›
Although my lack of social media posts on Saturday may have some thinking otherwise, this weekend’s Bronx Heroes: Women in Comics Convention was a lot of fun and a great success. Unfortunately, the area of the Bronx Library Center where the convention was held did not have good reception, so I couldn’t post about the many new Chadhiyana fans and others who dropped by my table to purchase prints, books and even my last copies of Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated! It seems to be a growing trend this past year or so, but of my three Bronx Heroes Conventions, this was by far the best yet. Read more… ›
If you’re in the Bronx this weekend, or planning to be, don’t miss you chance to see me at the Bronx Library Center this Saturday, May 2nd for the Bronx Heroes: Women in Comics Convention. Admission is free, as always for Bronx Heroes, and this time the focus of the convention is women creators and women characters. A perfect fit for my medieval Indian fantasy heroine, Chadhiyana! Though it was something of a mixed experience, I enjoyed this past weekend’s East Coast ComiCon. As usual, I was able to introduce new people to my work–especially Chadhiyana–and see a few repeat customers, as well. Though more than that, it was nice to finally attend a convention so close to home, and (somewhat surprisingly) see so many of my peers and friends, many of whom are based out of New York and Long Island. Conventions are often the only chance I get to catch up properly with other creators, and as it is, I haven’t exhibited for about six months. Read more… ›
There are two things I want to cover this week. First, a huge thank you to everyone who came by my booth this past weekend during the New York Comic Con, and for helping me make this a successful show. Second, I want to remind everyone that this weekend is the Crazy 8 Cartoon Festival in New York City. So, without wasting too much space writing about writing about it, let’s get down to the details. (Scroll toward the bottom of this post for information on the Crazy 8 event.) Read more… ›
