Hairy Hand Art Show 2013

There’s another lull in news this week as I continue to work on the Chadhiyana graphic novel. (I’m still writing the script and am now simultaneously working on a number of character designs.) That said, I was still busy this past weekend at a private art gathering held at the home of Secaucus, New Jersey (and formerly New York) resident artist Bobby “Hairy Hand” Travieso, and the experience was so interesting and unique that I felt it necessary to write a little something about it. Sketches Gallery Update

My Flowerbed sketchSince late April, I’ve been updating one or two of my website’s art galleries each month in an attempt to not only catch up on some of the artwork I’ve been meaning to post for quite some time, but also to update the galleries with larger (and thus more detailed and visually descriptive) thumbnail images. And this week, the final gallery, the Sketches section, has at last been updated. (Read more…)

Boston Comic Con Next Month

Sorry for the late post this week, folks. I hope all of my American fans and followers enjoyed the 4th of July yesterday (I know I did!). Just a brief reminder that I will be appearing at the Boston Comic Con next month for its new dates and location: August 3rd and 4th (Saturday and Sunday) at the World Seaport Trade Center in Boston, MA. This will be my first time appearing at the con, and it’s my hope by then that more news will be available about the Chadhiyana graphic novel I’m currently working on. (Yes, I’m still writing the script, but I’ve also done a lot of character designs this week as well.) So, if you’re in the area or planning on going, make sure you stop by my Artist Alley table. And if not, order your tickets now! I hear Boston Comic Con is a great show, and I’m looking forward to it.

Site Back to Normal and a Gallery Update

Ghost Rider small sketchAs of yesterday, jmdesantis.com is working to full capacity (after about a week of having problems due to issues on its hosting end). That means I was finally able to update the Miscellaneous Illustration gallery, as I’d planned to do last week. The update is somewhat small compared to many of the others that have been happening over the past few weeks. Even so, there are some great pieces there that I’ve been waiting to share on this site.  (Read more…)

Problems Persist

Late last week, jmdesantis.com went down for a little over a day due to a problem with the server on which it was being hosted. This left me unable to access the site. As you can see, the site is live again, though there are a number of areas I still cannot access as the issue is continuing to be resolved. That said, this week’s update (an update to the Miscellaneous Illustration gallery) will not be possible. I’m hoping to have full access to the site by next week and so be able to make that happen. In the meanwhile, for what it’s worth, I apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause (especially for those who might have thought I’d disappeared when they visited the site last Thursday). I’ll be back next week, hopefully with full access again.

Also, don’t forget to check out my original artwork on display in the Pet-icular Poses group art show at the Art Garage in Montclair, New Jersey. The show runs until June 30th. For more information, visit studiokidsart.com.

It’s Been a Busy Couple of Months…

It’s been a while since I wrote a proper blog post. For a couple months it’s been one event after the other, and now things are finally calming down. Of course, there is the Pet-icular Poses group art show where my original art is on display through June 30th (visit studiokidsart.com for more information). I still have plenty of work to get done as well (not least of which is the Chadhiyana graphic novel). But for all intents and purposes there is little to promote for the time being. That said, I figured it was the perfect time to write a bit about what’s been going on and what’s yet to come. (Read more…)

Pet-icular Poses Group Art Show Next Month

Chadhiyana and Sagreembal First, thank you to everyone who came out to support the Paterson Art Walk this weekend past. It was my first time participating, and it was great to see so many people come out to appreciate some art. However, as I mentioned last week, the Paterson Art Walk is not the only chance to see my artwork live before the summer months. From June 7th through the 30th the Art Garage in Montclair, New Jersey will be holding their group gallery show, Pet-icular Poses. It will feature artwork depicting animals and mythological creatures by a variety of artists, including four pieces by yours truly (possibly five, if I can finish the last one in time). There will be a reception for the show on Friday, June 7th, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Art Garage is located at 211 Glenridge Ave, Montclair, NJ 07042. For more information, visit the Art Garage’s site at studiokidsart.com.

Two Upcoming Art Shows and a Boston Comic Con Update

The Horror Beyond the DoorAs mentioned last week, I wanted to post an update on my status with regards to the rescheduled Boston Comic Con and some information on two upcoming art shows featuring my original artwork. First, I have five original pieces of art and some prints on display in the Paterson Art Walk in Paterson, New Jersey, this Saturday and Sunday (25th and 26th). My work will be in a room at the Art Factory’s 60 Spruce Street location with other artists associated with the Art Garage (a separate organisation from the Art Factory). You can find out more about this event on artfactory.us.com/artwalk.html. (Read more…)

A New Horror Web-Publication and Two More Gallery Updates

Book of LiesI was going to wait another week or two before I updated another art gallery. Instead, I intended to post information about some upcoming art shows I’m participating in and a small Boston Comic Con update (since it’s been rescheduled). However, I realised if I did that, I wouldn’t have an opportunity to update another of my art galleries until early-to-mid June! I couldn’t wait that long (and I’m sure you couldn’t either). So, not only have I updated two art galleries this week, but I also have some information about (and a link to) a new horror web-publication I’ve illustrated. (Read more…)
