Sorry for the late post this week, folks. I hope all of my American fans and followers enjoyed the 4th of July yesterday (I know I did!). Just a brief reminder that I will be appearing at the Boston Comic Con next month for its new dates and location: August 3rd and 4th (Saturday and Sunday) at the World Seaport Trade Center in Boston, MA. This will be my first time appearing at the con, and it’s my hope by then that more news will be available about the Chadhiyana graphic novel I’m currently working on. (Yes, I’m still writing the script, but I’ve also done a lot of character designs this week as well.) So, if you’re in the area or planning on going, make sure you stop by my Artist Alley table. And if not, order your tickets now! I hear Boston Comic Con is a great show, and I’m looking forward to it.

It’s been a while since I wrote a proper blog post. For a couple months it’s been one event after the other, and now things are finally calming down. Of course, there is the Pet-icular Poses group art show where my original art is on display through June 30th (visit studiokidsart.com for more information). I still have plenty of work to get done as well (not least of which is the Chadhiyana graphic novel). But for all intents and purposes there is little to promote for the time being. That said, I figured it was the perfect time to write a bit about what’s been going on and what’s yet to come. Read more… ›
As mentioned last week, I wanted to post an update on my status with regards to the rescheduled Boston Comic Con and some information on two upcoming art shows featuring my original artwork. First, I have five original pieces of art and some prints on display in the Paterson Art Walk in Paterson, New Jersey, this Saturday and Sunday (25th and 26th). My work will be in a room at the Art Factory’s 60 Spruce Street location with other artists associated with the Art Garage (a separate organisation from the Art Factory). You can find out more about this event on artfactory.us.com/artwalk.html. Read more… ›
I was going to wait another week or two before I updated another art gallery. Instead, I intended to post information about some upcoming art shows I’m participating in and a small Boston Comic Con update (since it’s been rescheduled). However, I realised if I did that, I wouldn’t have an opportunity to update another of my art galleries until early-to-mid June! I couldn’t wait that long (and I’m sure you couldn’t either). So, not only have I updated two art galleries this week, but I also have some information about (and a link to) a new horror web-publication I’ve illustrated. Read more… ›
As I usually do after every convention, I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who came down to the Bronx Heroes Comic Con this past weekend and showed their support. It’s always great to meet fans, introduce new people to my work, and just talk comics and the craft. I’m glad so many people were responsive to Chadhiyana and enjoyed the comic. (I even had one woman read it immediately after she bought it and say she loved it! It’s always wonderful to get that kind of reaction.) Always a pleasure doing this show hosted by the incomparable (friend of mine), Ray Felix. Now to get back to work on that Chadhiyana graphic novel.
The Fantasy Illustration section of jmdesantis.com saw a big update this week with new artwork and a slight format change. I had planned to post new art in most of the illustration sections after the Bronx Heroes Comic Convention (May 4th & 5th), but I was in need of something to post this week since the Boston Comic Con was cancelled this weekend past. (I’m still hoping they will reschedule, and I’m relieved the last suspect in the Boston Marathon tragedy was finally apprehended.) That said, there’s still more new artwork coming. Read more… ›
As I’ve promised for a while now, I’m going to reveal some information about the new Chadhiyana project I’m currently working on. For those of you who visited my table at the MoCCA Festival this weekend past, you may already be in the know, though everyone else is still more or less in the dark. So without further ado, here is the information I’ve said would come in April. Read more… ›
I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who stopped by my table at MoCCA Festival this past weekend and showed their support. For those of you who purchased a copy of Chadhiyana, I hope you enjoy the book and the character. Expect more. In fact, if I didn’t mention it at MoCCA, I’m already working on a new Chadhiyana project, the nature of which I will reveal on Wednesday for everyone who does have that information, whether they attended the show or not. J. M. DeSantis will be at MoCCA Festival again this year. If you’re attending the event, drop by table # B54 and pick up a copy of Chadhiyana, if you haven’t already or just say hello. Also, MoCCA Fest attendees will have the privilege of learning some information about the new Chadhiyana project before it’s revealed here the week following the show. So if you’re not already planning to attend and if you don’t have any plans this weekend, stop by the 69th Regiment Armory in New York City and buy a ticket at the door. Otherwise, see you there!

That’s right, folks, you read it correctly. Starting next week with the 2013 MoCCA Festival (April 6th and 7th), J. M. DeSantis will be appearing at one convention, every other week for five weeks! It’s already an exciting time for J. M. DeSantis with the first Chadhiyana comic having been published back in October and a new Chadhiyana project in the works (more on that next month). And now J. M.’s 2013 appearances are starting off with three conventions only two weeks apart from each other. Read more… ›
