New York Comic Con Less Than a Month Away!

In just three short weeks, the 2014 New York Comic Con will be opening for professionals on Thursday, October 9th. Following will be three days of comics, video games, pop culture and of course, Chadhiyana. As in the past few years, I will not be in Artist Alley, but rather you can find me in the Small Press area at booth 1259. So, if you’re attending the show, make sure you add my booth to your convention plans. Read more… ›

Boston Comic Con 2014 – Thank You

Boston Comic Con 2014 tableThis year’s Boston Comic Con was a fantastic event. In fact, it was by far the most successful show I’ve had in five years of exhibiting at comic conventions. Of course, as cliché as it is to say, the truth is it wouldn’t have been such a success without the support of those who stopped by my table, even if it was just to look and say a few kind words about my work.

That said, I want to thank everyone who bought prints, commissions, bookmarks, and especially those who picked up the second edition of Chadhiyana. I hope you enjoy it, and continue reading the graphic novel, Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows on chadhiyana.com. If you weren’t at the show, you still have the opportunity to pick up a copy at the Baltimore and New York Comic Cons in the coming months. The comic is also available on IndyPlanet.com (print and digital) and the Inbeon Studios store (digital only). Read more… ›

Just Some Random Musings & News

I have to be honest. For the first time in a while, I’m a little stuck. I have no idea what to write for today’s blog post. Sure, I could finish a number of the half-written blog pieces I keep on the back burner for moments like these, but at the moment, my head just isn’t there. Sometimes, it’s best to write about whatever’s on your mind at the moment–just to get the brain juices flowing. It’s probably a symptom of being distracted by a few deadlines I have to meet in the next two weeks and the upcoming Boston Comic Con (August 8 – 10, 2014). This is a typical thing that happens before a convention. So, I’ll just embrace it rather than fight it. Here goes. Read more… ›

More Than Expected

Chadhiyana Logo Created by Corey Breen

It’s difficult to know where to start, not for a lack of having something to write this week, but rather there’s been a lot happening worth writing about. So much happened within the last week that I wound up working through the weekend, forcing me to take the day off today (other than writing this blog piece, of course). At last the work is done (in a manner of speaking–I’ve a lot more to do this summer), and I can take a breather. That said, for you the reader (especially my Chadhiyana fans) there’s some exciting new things happening. Read more… ›

Upcoming Cons & a Happy 4th of July

Independence Day is just around the corner (well, State-side, that is), and so is my return to conventions. As I mentioned early in the year, I took the first half of the year off (from public appearances) to concentrate on my new teaching post, the classes I had to take to add a teaching certificate to my BFA and my graphic novel, Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows (posting weekly on chadhiyana.com). Now, summer is here, the graphic novel is moving smoothly and the Boston Comic Con is roughly one month away. Read more… ›

‘Chadhiyana’ Now Available for Digital Download

ChadhiyanaMy apologies, again, for last week. I was feeling very ill and having trouble keeping up with work and school. I’m better now and back on track. Last week’s page for Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows is coloured and the new page went up yesterday. And, for you Chadhiyana fans, I have some other good news: if you like to read your comics digitally, Chadhiyana (the first comic) is now available for digital download on IndyPlanet.com (for only $0.99)! Feeling Ill

My apologies for a lack of blog post this week. Since last Tuesday, I’ve been feeling very ill and have had difficulty concentrating on much of anything for long periods of time (which contributed largely to the inked, but not coloured page this week on chadhiyana.com). I finally got checked out today. All’s well, and I’m on my way to a full recovery. I’ll be back next week with a proper blog post and finished Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows page. Until then. I hope you are all doing well!

An Exciting Couple of Days

It’s difficult to decide what to write about first. Not because there’s any apprehension whatsoever concerning what I’m about to write. Rather, of the three events (if you will) which occurred since Monday, it’s difficult to decide which is the most important. To put one before the others would immediately place it above the rest in the reader’s mind–something I wish to avoid entirely. So, in an effort to not so much as allude to being more proud of one over the others, I’ll merely write about them in the order in which it came to my attention. Read more… ›

Getting to Draw Chadhiyana Again

It feels like forever since I’ve drawn Chadhiyana. I know the name of the graphic novel I’m working on is named Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, and it is a Chadhiyana graphic novel; however, for a number of reasons, I decided not to have the title character appear definitively until a little into Chapter I (you can read some of those reasons in yesterday’s blog post on chadhiyana.com). So it’s been months since I’ve drawn Chadhiyana at all. I’ll admit, it was nice to draw some other characters for a while, but in truth I’ve missed drawing Chadhiyana, and I’m excited to be rendering those familiar features again.  Read more… ›

Server Errors Galore

500_server_error

If you’ve visited this site (jmdesantis.com) or chadhiyana.com in the past week, you may have noticed they’ve been down twice due to server errors. The first time was late Wednesday into Thursday last week. Then just yesterday the sites went down again in the morning. It seems to be a recent issue with the software I’ve been using on jmdesantis.com this past year and on chadhiyana.com since its launch. Why this is happening after a year of things running smoothly with said software, I haven’t the faintest idea.  Read more… ›
