Returning for the second year in a row, J. M. DeSantis will be exhibiting at the Bronx Heroes Comic Con, held at the Bronx Library Center in New York City, this Saturday and Sunday. This is an exciting year for Bronx Heroes as this is the first time the convention will be extended over a two-day period (up from one day). So make sure you take the time to drop by and check out the amazing talent showcasing their work at the show. Oh, and don’t forget to visit J. M.’s table while you’re at it.

The Fantasy Illustration section of jmdesantis.com saw a big update this week with new artwork and a slight format change. I had planned to post new art in most of the illustration sections after the Bronx Heroes Comic Convention (May 4th & 5th), but I was in need of something to post this week since the Boston Comic Con was cancelled this weekend past. (I’m still hoping they will reschedule, and I’m relieved the last suspect in the Boston Marathon tragedy was finally apprehended.) That said, there’s still more new artwork coming. (Read more…)

Due to the on-going investigation and manhunt surrounding the tragedy at the Boston Marathon on April 15, the Boston Comic Con has been cancelled for this weekend, and so that means, by association, my appearance there has been cancelled as well. According to the Con’s statement (see below) there seems to be a possibility of rescheduling. I, for one, would be very pleased if they did reschedule. I was looking forward to exhibiting at this show for the first time (having heard so many good things) and returning to the city of Boston for the second time in my life (which I loved the first time I visited).

That said, I hope that the people of Boston remain safe and unharmed whilst the authorities continue to hunt for the suspect who is reportedly still at large. It is also my hope the suspect is found and apprehended as quickly as possible, so as to avoid any more potential harm to the city, the surrounding area or the people therein. Originally, it was my intention to write a quick third-person update about my upcoming first appearance at the Boston Comic Con this weekend, however, Monday’s tragedy at the Boston Marathon made me reconsider. I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who stopped by my table at MoCCA Festival this past weekend and showed their support. J. M. DeSantis will be at MoCCA Festival again this year. If you’re attending the event, drop by table # B54 and pick up a copy of Chadhiyana, if you haven’t already or just say hello. That’s right, folks, you read it correctly. Starting next week with the 2013 MoCCA Festival (April 6^th and 7^th), J. M. DeSantis will be appearing at one convention, every other week for five weeks! It’s already an exciting time for J. M. DeSantis with the first Chadhiyana comic having been published back in October and a new Chadhiyana project in the works (more on that next month). And now J. I’m still hard at work on a new Chadhiyana project (and I haven’t forgotten my promise to reveal more about it in April). But since I haven’t posted any new artwork on the site in a while, I decided to add a few pieces I’ve been meaning to for a while now. And since some of this “new” artwork is a little older–though that’s an unfair word to use, as I don’t consider them dated and like the pieces very much (else I wouldn’t be posting them)–I thought I’d write a little something to go with their inclusion on the site. Many of you who are checking back every week for new blog posts may have been a little disappointed the last few weeks to see that there’s been little but brief information about Chadhiyana’s price increase and some upcoming convention information. Or maybe I’m just feeling a little self-conscious after writing blog entries of 500-and-more words since the beginning of the year. Either way, as I explained in former posts, that may be the nature of some or even many posts here. Moreover, the new Chadhiyana project I’m working on is taking up most of my writing time of late.
