Garden State Comic Fest & The Summer Going Forward

J. M. DeSantis at the Garden State Comic Fest 2017

For the third year in a row (and since its move to a new location) I’ll be appearing at the Garden State Comic Fest this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at the Mennen Arena in Morristown, New Jersey. Generally, I haven’t had much luck at cons in my native state, though GSCF is the exception. It’s one of the better cons I do year after year, and it’s run by some of the most passionate and dedicated guys I’ve seen in the con business (and I’m still impressed and grateful to Dave O’Hare’s for last year’s kindness and quick action). That said, I know I haven’t posted in almost a month…even on my Patreon and gentlemancthulhu.com. So, this weekend not only kicks off the first of three summer cons, but it also starts a re-engagement on my part. Read more… ›

Convention Season 2017

I’m taking a break from writing about Dark Souls (and other related games) this week, to give you all a little update on my convention schedule for this year. Currently, there are a few unconfirmed appearances (and one which I haven’t decided upon just yet), but the months are starting to fill in (admittedly, I’m not the most active con-exhibitor, usually averaging about one a month or month-and-a-half each year). True, I already exhibited at No Such Con in February so this may seem a bit late to be listing what’s coming in 2017, but I don’t usually attend cons in the winter. Now spring is officially here, and I already have an event coming up in May!  Read more… ›

GSCF This Weekend

J. M. DeSantis at the Garden State Comic Fest 2016

As usual the week of an upcoming convention, I’m just writing this to remind anyone living in or near Morristown, New Jersey (or making a trip there) that I will be exhibiting at the Garden State Comic Fest on Saturday and Sunday at the Mennen Sports Arena. This will be both my second year doing the show and the show’s second at this new(ish) location. Read more… ›

Summer Begins and More Conventions Approach

J. M. DeSantis at the Garden State Comic Fest 2016 in two weeks

The 2015-2016 school year ends for me this week (I teach, you know, besides blogging weekly, working on Chadhiyana, Gentleman Cthulhu and other creative projects), and it’s been a bit hectic. I’m juggling a lot, catching up on some things and getting ready for a summer of working in the studio full-time (it’s nice to have to work only one job for two months out of the year). So, with that, I’m just going to take a brief moment to point out that in about three weeks’ time, I’ll be exhibiting at the Garden State Comic Fest–the first of three or four conventions for the summer. 2016 Convention Appearances Begin in One Month

J. M. DeSantis Event Annoucement

Last year, I had a very successful run of conventions. It was the first year in seven years of exhibiting that I success, and more, each convention I appeared at went better than the previous one. This year, I’m hoping to top last year, and it all begins with next month’s East Coast ComiCon (that is, if you don’t count January’s Black Comic Book Festival, where I appeared with Rosarium Publishing). One Down, Two to Go

Upcoming J. M. DeSantis Event

As a child growing up in New Jersey, the Mennen Arena was this vaguely referred to place where the WWE (then the WWF) would occasionally hold a house show. I never went there as a kid, but somehow I never forgot the name. So when the opportunity came up to attend an event there this past weekend, the little kid in me got just a little curious again. However, it wasn’t Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels headlining the event but rather names like Greg Hildebrant, Neal Adams, Mark McKenna and yours truly, J. M. DeSantis (well, maybe I’m not a headliner yet, but I’m hoping my time will come). Read more… ›

ComiXology, the comiXologist and Conventions

Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows News

Chadhiyana #1 was officially been out for a week (through Rosarium Publishing), but there’s still more to come. Late last week, the first issue of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows was added to comiXology.com and even earned a mention on the comiXologist post-San Diego Comic-Con podcast! More, this weekend begins a three-week-straight convention tour for Chadhiyana and myself. Read more… ›
