Writing the present blog piece is going to be a challenge for me. Not because I’m at a loss of words to write. On the contrary, I could probably write white hot about the topic for days on end, without food or sleep, and still not have gotten it all down. The trouble is remaining calm and levelheaded while I write this. Even now, my hands shake at the news and details concerning Pratt Institute’s decision to cancel their famous Pratt Show. As I expected, I decided to post just one additional part of my Handlebar Moustache Guide. As I’ve said in the past, I’ve written considerably more content than what I’ve published on this site, but I have other designs and aspirations for the full guide and so have kept it to the bare essentials here. That said, after publishing Part 5, I felt this web-version of the guide was somehow incomplete. Thus, this sixth and final part. I hope you’ve enjoyed the present guide and found it useful. Should the full version ever see print, rest assured I will make that announcement on this site. Read more… ›

Unless you’re following me on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ (and if you’re not, just click the icons on the right side bar to do so), you probably didn’t know that late last week I came down with something which left me feverish and out of commission for a few days. I’m feeling the residual effects of that still (mostly a stuffy nose and an aching back from all the lying around, not to mention a severe lack of energy), but I’m much better now and slowly getting back to work. There’s a lot to do and catch up on, after all. That said, I don’t have much for this week’s blog but another quick update and more teasers about some of that upcoming news. Read more… ›

The day has finally arrived; the fifth part of my handlebar moustache guide is now available. I do apologise for the wait (I’ve seen a number of hits on the fourth part since it’s posting), but there were a number of other things I had to blog about in between. Of course, having posted this fifth part, I wonder if it will be the final blog post in this series. After all, what I’ve posted here is only a fraction of what I’ve written for the guide–which is growing longer still–but with tentative plans of turning it into a book, of sorts, I’m unsure that posting any more of the guide would be wise. So, for now, this is the final part, but expect more, in some form or another, in the future. Read more… ›

I hate to write a blog post like this–quick, on the spur of the moment, and brief–but unfortunately, that’s what today calls for, because I honestly forgot what day it was. (Embarrassing, I know.) Read more… ›

This winter, Peter Jackson released the final part of his Hobbit film trilogy. So far as I can tell, the films have been well received, though I have not felt the same level of hype around this Middle Earth film trilogy as was associated with The Lord of the Rings films. Of course, this could be a personal bias, as frankly, I was disappointed with the entire Hobbit journey, there and back again. Read more… ›

Happy New Year again. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve written a proper post or posted a page of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows (on chadhiyana.com). For readers of that web-comic graphic novel of mine, as I’ve written about in the last couple of posts on chadhiyana.com, rest assured I have not stopped working on the comic. Quite the contrary. I have a big announcement planned for this month, and as such, it was decided that I should stop posting pages with the end of Chapter II (page 72). In fact, it’s quickly becoming possible that this forthcoming announcement may not be the only one I’m making this year. Read more… ›
Sure, the official day to wish everyone a Happy New Year is on New Year’s Day (January 1st–for those who follow the Roman calendar), but alas the day for new blog posts on jmdesantis.com has been Wednesdays for so long, I didn’t want anyone to call foul on me for not posting today. So, Happy New Year to all! As I said last year, let’s make it a great one, and hit the ground running with those New Year’s resolutions. My resolutions this year are to take better care of myself, be even more productive creatively, and to make more quality time for the people in my life. It’ll be a tall, but necessary, order, but I’m up to the task. What’s your New Year’s resolution? (Share in the comments section below.)
It’s Christmas Eve (for those who celebrate the holiday), and so, as is typical of me the week of Christmas (which I myself celebrate) I wanted to take the time to wish you all a very Happy Holiday (whichever you celebrate)! I hope you all enjoy this time of celebration and reflection, and find (or have found) some joy this holiday season. Again, I will return to blogging in the New Year, and hopefully (as stated in last week’s post), I’ll have some big news!
Happy Holidays!

With the holidays coming up, I’ll be taking things a little slow for the next two weeks. For those following my Handlebar Moustache Guide, I’ll be back with the next installment in the New Year. At least I got as far as posting how to curl your moustache, but there are a few other subjects to be covered yet before the guide is complete. In the meanwhile, I’ll be enjoying the holidays and preparing for next year, as there are (I hope and all but expect) some big things coming in 2015. But before we get to that, here’s a look back at 2014. Read more… ›
