It’s been over a year since I updated the art samples on this website. I know that seems like an awfully long time, especially considering how much I’ve grown as an artist in the past year, let alone the past two or three (some of the samples were and are older than that). Wow! I can’t think of a better word. This year’s New York Comic Con was not only my most successful in six years of exhibiting at the show; it was not only my most successful convention ever; it was a tremendous experience all around, and I am grateful to all of the people who helped make that possible. Another year has passed and the New York Comic Con is upon us once more! For the sixth year in a row I will be making an appearance at the show, this time in the exact same spot as last year: Booth 1259 in the Small Press area! Of course, it’s long past time I got back into Artist Alley, but that’s another story. For now, I’m just happy to be participating in such a monumental pop-culture event. (Read more…)

The Baltimore Comic-Con is this weekend (Friday through Saturday) at the Baltimore Convention Center, and (unfortunately) for the first time in four years, I will not be there. Of course, I don’t write that begrudgingly. I’ll be a groomsman for a good, long-time friend of mine who is getting married this weekend. Though I will say it is hard to know I won’t be there this year, especially since I really enjoy both Baltimore and the convention. What’s more, Baltimore Comic-Con seems to be the con where I have the most repeat customers and fans, and my publisher is right nearby in D.C. I’m sure there are many of you who have been waiting for this. And what with a two week break from social media and posts about a mailing list at the end of the month, the anticipation has probably been mounting. It’s September 8th and you know what that means: it’s exactly one month to the day before the start of the 2015 New York Comic Con! It’s also six days and some odd hours before extended ticket mailing for the show closes. As in the previous few years, I be exhibiting in the small press area (I believe at the same booth as last year: 1259)–so be sure not to look for me in artist alley. The summer is coming to an end, and for me, that means returning to my teaching job. There’s a lot I need to have place for my work output to be a well-oiled machine when school starts, plus there’s so little of the time off left to enjoy. Those things considered, I’ve decided to take a little social media and (possible) blog break (some of you may have noticed I didn’t post on Monday or Tuesday). I’m not sure for exactly how long I’ll be taking this break (I may very well be back before school starts on September 8th, but no later than then), but I’ll be hard at work behind the scenes the whole while. If you follow me on social media, you would have seen that I posted a terrifying and disappointing picture on Friday (and with how often I’m using social media for updates, you should be following me there, if you don’t already). Yes, it’s true. I took a scissors to those luscious curls and shaved my face bare. But I’m sure the question is, why did I get rid of my much beloved, constantly complimented handlebar moustache?
