Convention Season 2017

I’m taking a break from writing about Dark Souls (and other related games) this week, to give you all a little update on my convention schedule for this year. Currently, there are a few unconfirmed appearances (and one which I haven’t decided upon just yet), but the months are starting to fill in (admittedly, I’m not the most active con-exhibitor, usually averaging about one a month or month-and-a-half each year). True, I already exhibited at No Such Con in February so this may seem a bit late to be listing what’s coming in 2017, but I don’t usually attend cons in the winter. Now spring is officially here, and I already have an event coming up in May!  Read more… ›

No Such Con 2017 Write Up

When I think of a typical comic convention, my experiences at No Such Con are not what come to mind. The show took place at a college, it was run by students and I was given a half table and paired with a musician and sometimes actor on said table. It sounds terrible, I know. But if that’s the way you think this blog piece is headed, you could not be more wrong. Read more… ›

No Such Con & Panels Schedule

J. M. DeSantis - No Such Con 2017

First, Happy Valentine’s Day to all. I know many people are cynical about the holiday (as it were, for some of you), but all the same, I wish you a happy one and if you do enjoy Valentine’s Day or Gentleman Cthulhu (or both) you can see this week’s comic by clicking over to gentlemancthulhu.com.

That said, this weekend is the recently added though seemingly significant No Such Con at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. I say significant because (as I’ve written about previously) I was invited not only as a guest to the show (my first guest-invite ever), but to speak on four panels (I’ve never done more than one in a single weekend). Support & a Con

J. M. DeSantis Upcoming Convention

It’s been both an exciting and difficult week. On one hand, I was invited to a convention as a guest for the first time ever. On the other hand, the state of things in the United States is equal parts inspiring and frightening (frightening because of Trump’s actions; inspiring because of the actions of those standing up to him). As a result of the latter, I created some new Chadhiyana artwork over the weekend, and so today’s post is going to cover both the con and said artwork. Read more… ›

Chadhiyana #3 & Upcoming Event

Chadhiyana #3 News

The New Year has only just begun, and already there are some big things on the horizon. Within just a short period of time, the long-awaited third issue of Chadhiyana is going to be released, and I’ll be making an appearance at another comic book event. So get your calendars out. It’s time to start marking down a few important dates.  Read more… ›

Reflections on 2015

J. M. DeSantis Blog Post

2015 has been a landmark year! I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging, but I can’t help the truth of it. There have been some amazing things that happened this year, some of which I’ve been wanting or working toward for a good portion of my adult life (some since I was a kid, even). From getting a publisher, to moving into a new place and even winding up in the hospital at one point, 2015 was filled with incredible ups and downs. So pull up a comfortable chair and pour a glass of eggnog. It’s time for my annual reflections on the year past. Read more… ›

An Unprecedented Offer

J. M. DeSantis Blog Post

Typically in the winter months I hibernate to some extent. Besides taking the time to enjoy the Holidays and my family and friends, I take a break from public appearances and concentrate on working in my studio exclusively; it’s just such a hectic time of the year. This year, however, I wanted to try something different. No, I won’t be attending any more conventions until 2016 (which is also just around the corner), but I am going to offer something that you can only get from me at conventions: commissions!  Read more… ›

Where I Won’t Be This Weekend

J. M. DeSantis Blog

The Baltimore Comic-Con is this weekend (Friday through Saturday) at the Baltimore Convention Center, and (unfortunately) for the first time in four years, I will not be there. Of course, I don’t write that begrudgingly. I’ll be a groomsman for a good, long-time friend of mine who is getting married this weekend. Though I will say it is hard to know I won’t be there this year, especially since I really enjoy both Baltimore and the convention. What’s more, Baltimore Comic-Con seems to be the con where I have the most repeat customers and fans, and my publisher is right nearby in D.C. Because of all of this I’m going to make a very special offer. Read more… ›

ComiXology, the comiXologist and Conventions

Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows News

Chadhiyana #1 was officially been out for a week (through Rosarium Publishing), but there’s still more to come. Late last week, the first issue of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows was added to comiXology.com and even earned a mention on the comiXologist post-San Diego Comic-Con podcast! More, this weekend begins a three-week-straight convention tour for Chadhiyana and myself. Read more… ›

Eternal Con 2015 – Thank You

It’s been a good run of successful conventions this year, so it was bound to happen that one would prove a disappointment. While Eternal Con wasn’t an unsuccessful show by any means, it wasn’t quite as successful as the last few shows. Again, I’ve heard a lot of great things about Eternal Con over the past two years, so perhaps this year was just a fluke. After all, the word is the layout was changed this year and artist alley was scattered throughout the Cradle of Aviation Museum, making the artists extremely difficult to find.  Read more… ›
