Support & a Con

J. M. DeSantis Upcoming Convention

It’s been both an exciting and difficult week. On one hand, I was invited to a convention as a guest for the first time ever. On the other hand, the state of things in the United States is equal parts inspiring and frightening (frightening because of Trump’s actions; inspiring because of the actions of those standing up to him). As a result of the latter, I created some new Chadhiyana artwork over the weekend, and so today’s post is going to cover both the con and said artwork. Read more… ›

Some Updates

J. M. DeSantis News: Some Updates

2017 is already off to a roaring start. Over the past two weeks two of my comics, Chadhiyana #5 and Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One, were released online (the former by Rosarium Publishing). Then there’s the US Presidential Inauguration and everything happening around it (such as the Women’s March on Saturday). Even with all of that, this is something of an in between week for me. One of those weeks where I’ve been so busy with work, and so many gears are turning and plans are in motion, but there’s nothing official to announce. So I thought I’d take the time this week to just write a few updates and maybe (maybe) hint at a few things to come. Read more… ›

Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One on IndyPlanet

Just one week after Chadhiyana #5’s publication (Rosarium Publishing through comiXology and Amazon), I’m officially announcing the IndyPlanet release of Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One–a collection of the first year of comics from gentlemancthulhu.com. This is the very same book that sold out before the end of the weekend at this past New York Comic Con. As such, the book will likely be on my table for a long time, but if you can’t make it to a convention I’m exhibiting at or just miss me at one, you now have the option to buy the collection online at indyplanet.us/product/143372/!

As with Chadhiyana #0 (which I self-published in 2012), Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One is available in both digital and print formats on IndyPlanet. Though originally my thought was to collect only the first year until a significant collection could be made (that is, enough comics to fill a square-bound trade), I’m planning now to release a collection every year. So, if you really love the web-comic, you’ll have these comics every year to look forward to and collect. Of course, for those who wish to continue to read them online, all of the comics will remain free on the website for your enjoyment. Read more… ›

Happy New Year 2017!

Happy New Year!

Despite my comments last week, and how horribly the previous year went for all of us (generally speaking), I’m hoping 2017 brings a fresh start, or at the very least a fresh perspective and mindset. I know the whole changing year thing is more symbolic than literal (other than the date being written differently), but for many of us it is a marker. An ending and a beginning. And so I hope for a great year for us all. On a personal level, I hope and am planning for a lot, because 2017 and 2018 as well, are years of special significance for me. Read more… ›

2016: A Year of Adversity

J. M. DeSantis Reflections on 2016

2016 has turned out to be a challenging year. I had for a long time held out the hope that it was going to be a great year, another year of progress and success. After all, the past three had been for me (see Reflections on 2013, 2014, and 2015), each year better than the last. And though I can’t say nothing good happened this year, generally speaking, 2016 was the worst year I’ve had in a long, long time. And I think many people–if not most–would agree. Read more… ›

Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One & Merchandise

J. M. DeSantis News

In the past month I’ve spend a decent amount of time (on my blog on jmdesantis.com) highlighting my online store (through Zazzle.com) though I haven’t taken the time to highlight the fact that more than one third of the roughly 100 items available on the store feature artwork from Gentleman Cthulhu–including three designs featuring the tentacled gentleman himself. More, as promised, Gentleman Cthulhu: Year One (the collection of the first year of GC comics which sold out at this year’s New York Comic Con) is finally going to be available to order online! Not Feeling Very Funny Lately

J. M. DeSantis Blog Post

In case it hasn’t been noted, the three latest Gentleman Cthulhu comics (including this week’s Heil to the Chief) have had a somewhat darker tone–darker than the already dark humour of the comic. Certainly more sarcastic. Some also may also have noticed that the comics have been a little slower in posting. (I plan to catch up soon, by the way.) I suppose the trouble is I’m just finding it a little hard to be funny lately. Read more… ›

Chadhiyana #5 Available for Review

Chadhiyana News
As I’ve been writing and hinting at for a couple of weeks now (or at least it feels so), Chadhiyana #5 is going to be released relatively soon. It has been a long wait between issues 4 and 5, and I’ve made some mention of why that has been in the past–not least that my publisher, Rosarium Publishing, was doing some work behind the scenes that delayed the issue’s release (Rosarium is still a very small operation, despite their growth over the years). That said, my publisher and I think the wait just may be worth it, because we both agree this is by far the best issue of Chadhiyana yet. Read more… ›

Shop J. M. DeSantis this Season

Although I feel a tad awkward writing about shopping after last week’s post, my original intention had been to start promoting my online store again toward the end of October. Unfortunately, the election overshadowed that initiative (even in within myself). However, with the Holiday Shopping Season about to begin (with Black Friday being this Friday and Cyber Monday this Monday), there’s no time like the present to let you all know what I’m offering through my growing online store. And honestly, though I have no intention of abandoning last week’s stance, it is healthy to take a break from all the negativity out there right now, and what better way than to buy something for yourself or a loved one and help support a talented individual, such as myself, in the process? Happy Halloween 2016

Happy Halloween everyone! If you celebrate the holiday, I hope you’re enjoying it safely. This week I’ll be lying low for the most part, especially because I came down with a stomach bug this morning, but also because not only is Halloween my favourite holiday, but my birthday is just two days following it (which I think I’ve written enough times in this blog).
