Eternal Con 2015 This Weekend

This Saturday and Sunday I will be appearing in Artist Alley at Eternal Con for the first time ever! I’ve heard a lot of great things about this show, so hopefully the long (long) commute to Long Island will be worth it for me. It’s been a great convention season so far, and I’m only halfway through. I’m hoping for yet another successful show–especially with the replenished stock (since I was nearly cleaned out in White Plains) and the brand new items I’ll have on the table this weekend. A Castlevania Fan’s Thoughts on the Recent Konami Controversies

Konami Logo Controversies What?!

When I consider the publishers which define my birth as a gamer, Capcom and Konami are unequivocally the answer. With Capcom it started with a little blue robot and fireball-throwing martial artists. For Konami, it was a chance purchase in Toys “R” Us when I was around ten years old: an old castle, creatures of the night and a showdown with none other than Dracula himself! It was all of the things I loved in one game. Thus began my love affair with the Castlevania series and my commitment to Konami as a publisher. Recently it seems the entire gaming community is questioning their loyalty to Konami (and Konami’s sanity); however, as a Castlevania fan, I find myself unsurprised. (Read more…)

First Chadhiyana Review and Release Date

Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows News

If you don’t follow me on social media (then you should be!), you probably missed two big announcements in the past couple of weeks. First and foremost, the first issue of my graphic novel series, Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows, has been given the tentative release date of July 13, 2015 by Rosarium Publishing (pending no delays). As written in the past, the publisher opted to release the book digitally first in single issues. You’ll be able to find them on Comixology every other month (and–fingers crossed–Amazon?). I know it’s a bit of a wait, but really it’s just around the corner. That said, the book was also recently reviewed, for the first time, by Colored Books for Colored Folks. Honestly, if nothing I’ve said in the past has sold you on it, I think this review will. (Read more…)

A Convention I Will Definitely Do Again

This past weekend, I exhibited at the White Plains Comic Con for its first of hopefully many years. The convention was organised by Nancy Silberkleit of Archie Comics and had strong support from the City of White Plains. The upper floor of the White Plains Library (where the convention was held) was packed with people for a good portion of the day, and even the mayor of White Plains (Thomas Roach) came down to meet all of the artists and vendors. I have to honestly say, of all the conventions I have been to, this one seemed to have the largest outpouring of support for those who were exhibiting at the show. At least I hope that was everyone’s experience, because my experience was wonderful.  (Read more…)

White Plains Comic Con this Saturday

After a little indecisiveness (on my part), it has been officially confirmed that I will be exhibiting at the White Plains Comic Con this Saturday. This is the first year for the show, which is being held at the White Plains Library in White Plains, New York. Though I know nothing of the venue, I have high hopes it is going to be a success, especially after my last show (Bronx Heroes: Women in Comics Convention). (Read more…)

Bronx Heroes – Thank You

Although my lack of social media posts on Saturday may have some thinking otherwise, this weekend’s Bronx Heroes: Women in Comics Convention was a lot of fun and a great success. Unfortunately, the area of the Bronx Library Center where the convention was held did not have good reception, so I couldn’t post about the many new Chadhiyana fans and others who dropped by my table to purchase prints, books and even my last copies of Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated! It seems to be a growing trend this past year or so, but of my three Bronx Heroes Conventions, this was by far the best yet. (Read more…)

Bronx Heroes: Women in Comics – This Weekend

If you’re in the Bronx this weekend, or planning to be, don’t miss you chance to see me at the Bronx Library Center this Saturday, May 2nd for the Bronx Heroes: Women in Comics Convention. Admission is free, as always for Bronx Heroes, and this time the focus of the convention is women creators and women characters. A perfect fit for my medieval Indian fantasy heroine, Chadhiyana! Settling In

Just a quick note. This past weekend I moved into a new place with my girlfriend and her daughter. I’ll be spending some time getting issues 1 and 2 of Chadhiyana: In the Company of Shadows ready for publication (from Rosarium Publishing)–and hopefully I’ll have a release date for issue 1 soon; however most of my time is going to be spent on settling in to our new place and organising my new workspace (and getting internet so I can type these blog posts from home again). East Coast ComiCon Reflections

Though it was something of a mixed experience, I enjoyed this past weekend’s East Coast ComiCon. As usual, I was able to introduce new people to my work–especially Chadhiyana–and see a few repeat customers, as well. Though more than that, it was nice to finally attend a convention so close to home, and (somewhat surprisingly) see so many of my peers and friends, many of whom are based out of New York and Long Island. Conventions are often the only chance I get to catch up properly with other creators, and as it is, I haven’t exhibited for about six months.  (Read more…)

East Coast ComiCon 2015 This Weekend

This weekend, I will be exhibiting in Artist Alley at the East Coast ComiCon in Secaucus, New Jersey. Formerly known as the Asbury Park ComiCon, the convention will take place Saturday and Sunday (March 11th and 12th) at its new location: The Meadowlands Expo Center. Aside from having a new name and venue, this convention will be the first I’m attending a con in my native New Jersey, and it will be my first public appearance since the big announcement three weeks ago.  (Read more…)
